Our Analysis of the Masterbuilt Bluetooth Electric Smoker:
The Masterbuilt Bluetooth Electric Smoker is a solid smoker that really does have a lot of great features. We especially like the external chip loader, that allows you to top up your wood chips during the smoking process without having to open the cabinet and letting out the heat. And the same goes for the external grease drip tray, keeping your patio clean while not having to open the smoker.
The included meat thermometer probe that can be monitored digitally is also a great thing, because you’d just have to get one anyway. It’s important to monitor the internal temperature of the meat.
But what do we think about the special feature: the Bluetooth? Well, it’s pretty cool and fits right in with the high tech era. Since most people keep their phone in their hand or pocket almost at all times during the waking hours, this can make things really convenient. However, the bluetooth connectivity doesn’t have a very wide range, so basically, you aren’t going to be able to monitor your smoker from very far away. Possibly only 15 or 20 feet. This might be fine with you, because maybe you just want to monitor from your seat at the patio table while you drink your beer. Or from just inside the door to the patio because it is cold outside.
Should you purchase the Masterbuilt Bluetooth Electric Smoker?
If you are looking for a smoker that has lots of great features AND you want the high tech convenience of monitoring your smoker from your smart phone, we think you’ll enjoy the Masterbuilt Bluetooth Electric Smoker.
If you like still like the concept of monitoring your smoker remotely, but you want a wider range of connectivity, we recommend the Masterbuilt Electric Smoker with RF Remote Control. The radio-frequency controller has a considerably wider communication range and you can still get all the great features of the Masterbuilt Digital Electric Smoker as shown previously in the article.

FAQs about the Masterbuilt Bluetooth Electric Smoker
Can you leave it outdoors?
Well, you shouldn’t, really. If you live in Las Vegas, or a similar dry climate, you might get away with leaving it outside in the shade with a cover on it. But it is an electronic appliance, and that means that it is sensitive to moisture and extreme temperatures. The shroud over the electronics is not waterproof. Best to put it in the garage or a covered shed when you are not using it. And no matter what you do, invest in a cover for it. You can get one here. You’ll be glad you did. If you take care of your smoker, it will take care of you.
Can you smoke a turkey in it?
Why sure. A pretty big one too, like 20 pounds.
How about a ham?
Yes, that too. And bacon and lots of other yummy meats. Like several pork butts and lots and lots of bacon. Smoked sausages, salmon. And bacon. You name it. Bacon.
How many ribs will it do?
If you lay them flat on the shelves, you can fit one full rack (cut in half) on each shelf, but if you use rib racks, you can get probably twice that many. I say use the racks. You can never have too many ribs.
Can you cold smoke in it?
Yes, but only if you purchase the optional cold smoking attachment here. The temperatures on the unit by itself do not go low enough to make the chips smoke without melting your cheese or cooking your food. So you need the attachment, which connects into the wood chip loader and allows the temperatures in the smoking chamber to stay below 100°F while making all that yummy smoke in the cold smoking attachment’s smoking chamber.
Does it come with legs?
These models don’t come with legs, but Masterbuilt does offer a separate leg kit that raises it up about 10 inches. The leg kit comes with wheels on the back two legs to make it easy to move around. Your back will thank you, I promise.
You can also get a stand for it that raises it up about 16 inches. You can get the Masterbuilt 30 inch stand or the Masterbuilt 40 inch stand. The stand has a low shelf below, where you can put your extra chips and accessories. It does not have any wheels, so keep this in mind if you need to move your smoker.
Does the outside of the smoker get really hot?
Not too hot. The double walled cabinet with foam insulation is a nice safety feature. The outside of the cabinet is unlikely to burn you or your little ones if they were to touch it while it was in operation. It does get hotter nearest the heating element and wood chip tray and you should observe the same safety rules you might with an oven if you have little ones.
Is the smoker hard to clean?
Not really. You can make things easier on yourself by coating the racks with a little high temperature oil like grapeseed or coconut oil before you smoke. Then the gunk will come right off later. Just throw the racks (well, set them, please) in a sink of soapy water and use a stiff brush to clean. The inside of the cabinet can be wiped down with vinegar water, but you can leave most of that “stuff” on there because it is seasoning and will add to the flavor. You might want to clean the window. Use vinegar and water solution and rub down with heavy paper towels or newspaper to get the window shiny again.
Does this smoker come with a warranty?
Every Masterbuilt Electric Smoker comes with a 1 year warranty from date of purchase that covers parts. It does not cover the paint or rust. You will need to keep your receipt that shows your date of purchase. Random housekeeping tip: I keep all my warranties in a binder in chronological order.
Can you use this smoker inside the house?
One word: No.
